Listen to people, whether you are at home, at school, at work, or in the community.
Learn to actively listen. The posture you use, a quick nod of the head, eye contact as well as asking relevant questions to aid your understanding, convey that you are interested in what the other person is saying.
You don't have to be a trained counsellor to listen to people, and while you can't solve everyone's problems, you can listen to them and offer to pray for them.
A common theme today is that many people do not feel listened to. In Philippians 2:4 Paul urges the readers to take an interest in other people. Listening conveys care and attention, it is an unselfish act of love. Listening is a powerful tool in evangelism. Sharing the good news of the gospel does require elements of talking, of teaching and explaining. However, first and foremost it involves listening, understanding and relationship.
People feel cared for, and as you share their problems, relationships develop which gives opportunities for sharing the gospel.
