The Rugby World Cup is coming this autumn, and it provides an excellent opportunity to connect with your community and invite your friends.  Why not host a screening of one, or all of the big matches under the Engage 2015 banner.  This could be part of a community festival (see idea) or a stand alone event.

Engage 2015 will provide guidelines on how to hire a big screen and keep in line with broadcasting regulations.

Some of the endless possibilities include:

  • Screening a Home team match

  • Supporting an underdog by choosing a lesser fancied nation - like Japan, Namibia or Romania - and making your event a celebration of their culture,

  • Identifying a significant national group living in your community and screening their event, with invitations and their national food on hand.

Jesus said that his followers were to be like lights on a hilltop - good news for travellers in the dark, offering direction and the promise of a welcome – and that the things they do to make this happen should cause others to praise God.
The World Cup 2015 gives churches the opportunity to make that a reality in their communities. An occasion, to make Christ’s love visible.

Getting to know people better in your community, by serving them.
