Running a community festival based around the World Cup, puts churches at the very heart of their community. Many churches have already had the experience of running a Community Festival during the 2012 Olympics or at another time. The World Cup in 2015 offers one more opportunity for churches to work together with their local authorities and with local rugby clubs.

Training for your Festival

For those wanting to run, or think about running, a Community Festival, there will be training days in good time to make their plans. To be sure of receiving news of training and resources register to receive Engage 2015, register at www.engage2015.co.uk

What happens at a community festival?

These all-age and family focused events may include;

  • Big screen showing one of the key games

  • Fun for children including face painting, clowns and competitions

  • Sport based games - including touch rugby

  • Inflatable’s - bouncy castles

  • Barbecue

  • Kite flying

  • Live music

  • And more...

Jesus said his followers were to be like lights on a hilltop - good news for travellers in the dark, offering direction and the promise of a welcome – and that the things they do to make this happen should cause others to praise God.
The World Cup 2015 gives churches the opportunity to make that a reality in their communities. It is one more great occasion to make Christ’s love visible.

Create a celebration in your community, build relationships, and connect with new people.
