Description

In one street, neighbours gathered together to celebrate Christmas in style, by creating their own street Advent calendar. Each of the 24 houses featured a different nativity scene in one of their windows. They produced a map, and a brochure explaining each part of the calendar.

Rationale

Communally celebrating Christmas helps develop a feeling of community spirit in the neighbourhood. Neighbours get to know each other better, and lonely people are befriended. Christians can play a key role developing community relationships, improving local wellbeing and increasing opportunities for conversations about the big and not so big things of life.

Outcome

Increased community engagement through a fun activity.
