Liaise with the police to close off your high street for a few hours one evening, to have a fun open-air Christmas event. Work with local traders to see whether they would like to stay open, provide mulled wine and mince pies, place Nativity displays in shop windows, have a band and/or carol singers - you could even run your own stall with homemade cards and gifts from your church members.

As consumerism grows and the true message of Christmas is lost, the church has a key role in re-establishing the importance of Jesus birth. This is one way of raising awareness, by celebrating with the community and making the nativity central.

To provide a fun event for the local community at Christmas. To celebrate Jesus birth.
